What This Story Is About Nearly 1,000 runners, walkers and supporters took part in the 33rd annual Covenant Health Thompson Cancer Survival Center Race Against Cancer 5K in downtown Knoxville. It was held at Covenant Health Park in a rainstorm and raised more than $160,000 for patients in treatment. Cancer survivor Timothy Rutherford finished third in the survivor division.

Why It Matters The money pays for services such as nurse navigators, financial patient relief, nutrition, counseling and navigation.
